Adhyāya 96: Nārada Guides Mātali in Varuṇa’s Realm
Varuṇa-loka Darśana
भार्ययानु स सम्मन्त्रय सह रात्रौ सुधर्मया । मातलिनागलोकाय चकार गमने मतिम्,तब उन्होंने रातमें अपनी पत्नी सुधमाके साथ सलाह करके नागलोकमें जानेका विचार किया
bhāryayānu sa sammantrya saha rātrau sudharmayā | mātalī nāgalokāya cakāra gamane matim ||
Dijo Kaṇva: Tras consultar durante la noche con su esposa Sudharmā, resolvió partir hacia Nāgaloka, por asunto relacionado con Mātali.
कण्व उवाच
The verse underscores prudent conduct: before taking a significant step, one should consult trusted counsel—here, the spouse—so that action arises from deliberation rather than impulse.
Kaṇva narrates that, after a nighttime consultation with his wife Sudharmā, he forms the firm intention to go to Nāgaloka, with Mātali being the relevant figure connected to this decision.
