The verse highlights steadfast observance of nitya-karma (daily duties)—sandhyā rites, japa, and Agnihotra—showing that personal discipline and reverence for cosmic order (the Sun) are integral to dharma, even when major political and martial decisions loom.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Mādhava completes his morning religious observances—water-offerings and recitation, then fire-oblation—adorns himself, and then performs the customary dawn reverence to the rising Sun.
