य: कल्याणगुणान् ज्ञातीन् मोहाल्लो भाद दिदृक्षते । सो<जितात्माजितक्रोधो न चिरं तिष्ठति श्रियम्,“जो कल्याणमय गुणोंसे युक्त अपने कुटुम्बीजनोंको मोह$ और लोभःकी दृष्टिसे देखना चाहता है, वह अपने मन और क्रोधको न जीतनेवाला पुरुष दीर्घकालतक राजलक्ष्मीका उपभोग नहीं कर सकता
yaḥ kalyāṇa-guṇān jñātīn mohāl lobhād didṛkṣate | so 'jitātmājita-krodho na ciraṁ tiṣṭhati śriyam ||
Dijo Vaiśampāyana: Quien, por ilusión y codicia, mira a sus propios parientes—dotados de nobles cualidades—como objetos de explotación, siendo incapaz de dominar su mente y su ira, no conserva por mucho tiempo la prosperidad real.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Prosperity and sovereignty do not endure for a person who, driven by delusion and greed, treats even virtuous relatives as objects of gain; lack of mastery over the mind and anger undermines lasting success.
In Vaiśampāyana’s narration within the Udyoga Parva’s counsel-filled context, a moral warning is stated: a ruler (or any person) who views his own kin through greed and confusion, without self-restraint, cannot long maintain Śrī—royal fortune and stability.
