Kṛṣṇa at Duryodhana’s House: Refusal of Hospitality and Departure to Vidura (कृष्णस्य धार्तराष्ट्रनिवेशनगमनम्)
नैव शक््या: पराजेतुं सर्व होषां तथाविधम् । “श्रीकृष्ण! मेरे मनमें पाण्डवों तथा धृतराष्ट्रपुत्रोंके प्रति कभी भेदभाव नहीं था। इस सत्यके प्रभावसे निश्चय ही मैं देखूँगी कि तुम भावी संग्राममें शत्रुओंको मारकर पाण्डवोंसहित संकटसे मुक्त हो गये तथा राज्यलक्ष्मीने तुमलोगोंका ही वरण किया है। पाण्डवोंमें ऐसे सभी गुण मौजूद हैं
naiva śakyāḥ parājētuṃ sarve hoṣāṃ tathāvidham | pitaraṃ tv eva gṛhyaṃ na ātmānaṃ na suyodhanam ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana dijo: «No pueden ser vencidos—todos ellos, siendo de tal condición.» (El hablante prosigue:) «Aférrate sólo a tu padre—no a ti mismo, ni a Suyodhana.» El pasaje subraya la convicción de que los Pāṇḍavas, dotados de las virtudes necesarias y del apoyo legítimo, no son fáciles de doblegar; y formula el consejo en términos de lealtad a la autoridad justa y de freno a la agresión nacida del capricho propio.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse stresses that moral and strategic strength grounded in dharma makes the righteous difficult to defeat, and it frames ethical counsel as obedience to rightful authority (the father/king) rather than impulsive self-assertion or alignment with Suyodhana’s obstinacy.
In the Udyoga Parva’s pre-war counsel, the narration affirms the Pāṇḍavas’ invincibility due to their qualities and urges a stance of restraint: adhere to the father (Dhṛtarāṣṭra) rather than acting independently or siding with Suyodhana, anticipating the coming conflict and its outcome.
