Omens and Reception During Keśava’s Departure
The verse highlights the moral and political gravity of a royal assembly: rulers and courtiers are drawn not merely by power but by the presence of Janārdana, portrayed as steadfast in truth. It underscores that legitimate authority and counsel are ideally oriented toward satya (truth) and dharma, especially when conflict is imminent.
A large gathering of kings and the members of the court assemble from all directions, eager to witness the assembled rulers and, in particular, to see Kṛṣṇa (Janārdana), whose presence carries decisive weight in counsel and diplomacy during the Udyoga Parva’s build-up to war.
