As a colophon, the verse itself does not teach a new doctrine; it frames the ethical thrust of the preceding narration: Kṛṣṇa’s message is presented as a dharma-grounded attempt at reconciliation and right conduct before war, emphasizing that peace-making and truthful counsel are integral to righteous statecraft.
The text is closing a chapter: Saṃjaya has finished recounting Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s words/message within the Udyoga Parva’s negotiation-focused section. The colophon marks completion and prepares the reader for the next development in the diplomatic and political sequence leading toward the Kurukṣetra conflict.
