Vidura-nīti: Atithi-dharma, Trust, Counsel-Secrecy, and Traits of Sustainable Rule

Udyoga Parva, Adhyāya 38

Educational Q&A

Vidura emphasizes kula-dharma: maintain fellowship and affection among relatives—eat together, speak kindly, and cooperate in duties—because hostility within the family is never righteous and leads to ruin.

In Udyoga Parva, as tensions move toward war, Vidura offers moral counsel aimed at preventing destructive conflict. This verse urges reconciliation and sustained kinship bonds rather than escalating opposition among relatives.
