Drupada’s Alarm and Inquiry Regarding Śikhaṇḍinī (द्रुपदस्य भय-विमर्शः)
तत् स्थान तस्य दृष्टवा तु सर्वतः समलंकृतम् । मणिरत्नसुवर्णानां मालाभि: परिपूरितम्
tat sthāna tasya dṛṣṭvā tu sarvataḥ samalaṅkṛtam | maṇiratnasuvarṇānāṁ mālābhiḥ paripūritam ||
Dijo Bhīṣma: “Entonces, al ver aquel lugar, lo halló adornado por todas partes, colmado de guirnaldas hechas de joyas, gemas preciosas y oro.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights the outward signs of royal prosperity and careful preparation—adornment and abundance used to honor a setting. Ethically, it points to the social value placed on proper reception and the visible expression of respect through orderly, dignified presentation.
Bhīṣma describes someone arriving at and observing a particular place. The location is richly decorated on all sides and is filled with garlands fashioned from jewels, gems, and gold, emphasizing grandeur and ceremonial readiness.
