स मुक्तो न््यपतत् तूर्ण सब्ये पाश्वे महाहवे । येनाहं भृशमुद्विग्नो व्याघूर्णित इव द्रुम:,उस महान् युद्धमें उनके धनुषसे छूटा हुआ वह बाण तुरंत मेरी बायीं पसलीपर पड़ा, जिससे मैं अत्यन्त उद्विग्न होकर वृक्षकी भाँति झूमने लगा
sa mukto nyapatat tūrṇaṃ savye pārśve mahāhave | yenāhaṃ bhṛśam udvigno vyāghūrṇita iva drumaḥ ||
Dijo Bhīṣma: «Soltada de su arco, aquella flecha me hirió con rapidez en el costado izquierdo, en medio de la gran batalla. Por ese golpe quedé sumido en una intensa turbación, balanceándome como un árbol sacudido y arremolinado por una fuerza violenta.»
