अथावताप्य पृथिवीं पूषा दिवससंक्षये । जगामास्तं सहस्रांशुस्ततो युद्धमुपारमत्,भारत! उसके बादसे मैंने परशुरामजीपर फिर प्रहार नहीं किया। इधर सहस्र किरणोंवाले भगवान् सूर्य इस पृथ्वीको तपाकर दिनका अन्त होनेपर अस्त हो गये; इसलिये वह युद्ध बंद हो गया
athāvatāpya pṛthivīṃ pūṣā divasa-saṃkṣaye | jagāmāstaṃ sahasrāṃśus tato yuddham upāramat |
Tras abrasar la tierra, Pūṣan —el Sol de mil rayos— se puso al término del día. Por ello el combate se detuvo, pues la caída de la noche puso fin a la lucha.
राम उवाच
The verse underscores restraint and order in warfare: even intense conflict is bounded by time and propriety, and the natural rhythm of day and night functions as a dharmic limit that brings fighting to a stop.
As the Sun sets at the end of the day after heating the earth, the battle is discontinued; the setting of the Sun becomes the immediate cause for the cessation of combat.
