Amba–Rama–Bhishma Dialogue on Vow and Refuge
अथादृश्यत धर्मात्मा भुगुश्रेष्ठी महातपा: । आह्वयामास च तदा युद्धाय द्विजसत्तम:,इतनेमें ही भूगुकुलतिलक ब्राह्णशिरोमणि महातपस्वी धर्मात्मा परशुरामजी दिखायी दिये। उन्होंने सामने आकर युद्धके लिये भीष्मको ललकारा
athādṛśyata dharmātmā bhṛguśreṣṭhī mahātapāḥ | āhvayāmāsa ca tadā yuddhāya dvijasattamaḥ ||
Entonces apareció Paraśurāma, justo y gran asceta, el más excelso entre los Bhṛgu. Aquel mejor de los brahmanes avanzó y, en el acto, desafió a Bhīṣma a combatir.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even figures renowned for dharma and austerity may enter conflict when duty, honor, and competing obligations collide; the episode highlights how righteousness is tested in action, not merely proclaimed.
Paraśurāma, described as a supremely austere and righteous Brahmin of the Bhṛgu line, appears and formally challenges Bhīṣma to fight, initiating a major confrontation within the Udyoga Parva narrative.
