When justice (nyāya) is not upheld in a disputed matter, the speaker frames resistance—even armed confrontation—as a consequence of ethical failure. The verse highlights that doubtful cases demand especially fair conduct; lack of fairness escalates conflict.
The speaker addresses Rāma, accusing him of acting unjustly despite uncertainty about whether Ambā should be accepted. Declaring that proper conduct has not been shown, the speaker resolves to fight Rāma in a great battle.
