अम्बाया निर्वेदः तपोव्रताभ्यर्थना च
Ambā’s Despair and Petition for Ascetic Vows
भीष्म त्वमसि धर्मज्ञ: सर्वशास्त्रविशारद: । श्रुत्वा च वचन धर्म्य महां कर्तुमिहाहसि,'भीष्म! तुम धर्मके ज्ञाता और सम्पूर्ण शास्त्रोंके ज्ञानमें निपुण हो। मेरी बात सुनकर मेरे साथ धर्मपूर्ण बर्ताव करना चाहिये
bhīṣma tvam asi dharmajñaḥ sarvaśāstraviśāradaḥ | śrutvā ca vacanaṃ dharmyaṃ mahān kartuṃ ihārhasi ||
“Bhīṣma, tú conoces el dharma y eres versado en todos los śāstras. Habiendo oído mis palabras justas, debes obrar aquí con nobleza y conforme al dharma hacia mí.”
भीष्म उवाच
Moral authority is grounded in knowledge of dharma and śāstra, and such knowledge obligates one to act nobly—especially when appealed to with righteous reasoning.
A speaker addresses Bhīṣma, praising his mastery of dharma and the scriptures, and urges him to respond to the speaker’s righteous request with magnanimous, dharma-aligned action in the present dispute.
