अम्बा-शाल्वसंवादः | Amba’s Appeal to Śālva and His Refusal
ते यतथध्वं परं शक््त्या सर्वे मोक्षाय पार्थिवा: । प्रसह् हि हराम्येष मिषतां वो नरर्षभा:
te yatatadhvaṁ paraṁ śaktyā sarve mokṣāya pārthivāḥ | prasaḥ hi harāmy eṣa miṣatāṁ vo nararṣabhāḥ ||
Bhīṣma dijo: «¡Oh reyes, toros entre los hombres! Esforzaos todos con vuestra máxima fuerza por rescatarlas. Pues, aun mientras miráis, me llevo por la fuerza a estas princesas». Tras montar a las doncellas en su carro, proclamó una y otra vez estas palabras ante los soberanos reunidos—desafiándolos abiertamente a disputar el rapto, para que el hecho se decidiera por el valor en batalla y no por el sigilo.
