Sound leadership requires discernment—knowing what is truly valuable versus hollow, and what is genuine strength versus weakness. Yudhiṣṭhira points to Kṛṣṇa as the one who sees these realities clearly and also understands the collective counsel of the kings.
In the Udyoga Parva’s war-preparation context, Yudhiṣṭhira defers to Kṛṣṇa’s superior judgment. He states that Kṛṣṇa already knows both the real merits of the situation and the opinions of the assembled rulers, implying that decisions should align with Kṛṣṇa’s informed guidance.
