Decision on Command and the Pandavas’ March to Kurukshetra
गान्धार्या धृतराष्ट्रेण समक्ष मम भारत । एतत् ते कथितं राजन् यद् वृत्तं कुरुसंसदि
gāndhāryā dhṛtarāṣṭreṇa samakṣa mama bhārata | etat te kathitaṃ rājan yad vṛttaṃ kurusaṃsadi || prajānātha! adhunā tvam api yad ucitaṃ manyase tat kuru | bhārata! kauravasabhāyāṃ bhīṣma-droṇa-vidura-gāndhārī-dhṛtarāṣṭraiḥ mama samakṣaṃ yāḥ kathitāḥ kathāḥ, tāḥ sarvāḥ te śrāvitāḥ | rājan! eṣa evātra vṛttāntaḥ ||
Dijo Vāyu: «Oh Bhārata, en presencia de Gāndhārī y de Dhṛtarāṣṭra te he contado, oh rey, lo que aconteció en la asamblea de los Kuru. Oh señor del pueblo, ahora tú también debes hacer lo que juzgues justo. Oh Bhārata, te he relatado todo cuanto Bhīṣma, Droṇa, Vidura, Gāndhārī y Dhṛtarāṣṭra dijeron ante mí en la corte de los Kaurava. Oh rey, este es el relato completo de lo sucedido allí.»
वायुदेव उवाच
Even after hearing authoritative counsel and a full report of events, the ruler must exercise personal moral judgment—doing what is ‘ucita’ (proper) rather than hiding behind others’ words.
Vāyu concludes his report, stating that he has relayed to the addressed king/descendant of Bharata everything said in the Kaurava/Kuru assembly by key elders and advisors (Bhīṣma, Droṇa, Vidura, Gāndhārī, Dhṛtarāṣṭra), and urges him to act as he deems right.
