Droṇa–Vidura–Gāndhārī Counsel in the Royal Assembly
rājan! satyavatyāṃ garbhase kurukulakā bhāra-vahanaṃ kurvantaḥ dharmātmā mahābāhuḥ śrīmān vicitravīrya utpannāḥ, yo me laghu-bhrātā āsīt.
The verse frames kingship and lineage as a moral responsibility: a ruler (or dynastic heir) is praised not merely for birth, but for sustaining the Kuru line through dharma—bearing the ‘burden’ of duty with righteousness and strength.
Vāyu addresses a king and recounts dynastic origins, stating that Vichitravīrya was born from Satyavatī and is described as righteous and heroic, one who upheld the Kuru lineage; Vāyu identifies him as his younger brother.
