Kuntī–Karṇa Saṃvāda: Lineage Disclosure and Appeal to Fraternal Dharma

आद्ानं मन्त्रसंयुक्त वसन्त्या: पितृवेश्मनि । साहमन्त:पुरे राज्ञ: कुन्तिभोजपुरस्कृता

ādānaṃ mantrasaṃyuktaṃ vasantyāḥ pitṛveśmani | sāham antaḥpure rājñaḥ kuntibhojapuraskṛtā ||

Dijo Vaiśaṃpāyana: Cuando vivía en la casa de mi padre, obtuve una gracia ligada a un mantra. En aquellos días, por mi devoto servicio complací al venerable sabio Durvāsā, y él me concedió este favor: si invocaba con el mantra, podía llamar a mi presencia a cualquier deidad. Mi padre Kuntibhoja me honraba grandemente. Pero, morando en los aposentos interiores del rey, mi corazón se turbó al meditar de muchas maneras sobre el poder y el peligro de los mantras y sobre la temible eficacia de la palabra pronunciada por un brāhmaṇa—cómo un don destinado al bien puede volverse también fuente de inquietud cuando sus consecuencias no se conocen por completo.
