A ruler or aspirant to success needs capable, loyal, and virtuous counsellors and allies; reclaiming one’s rightful aims from hostile forces is achieved through trustworthy support and sound advice, not by isolated effort.
The speaker (the son) continues advising about the kind of helpers and ministers a person should have, emphasizing that those who seek advancement and the recovery of what enemies have taken must rely on well-qualified, friendly advisers.
