कायर! तेरे इष्ट और आपूर्त कर्म नष्ट हो गये, सारी कीर्ति धूलमें मिल गयी और भोगका मूल साधन राज्य भी छिन गया, अब तू किसलिये जी रहा है? ।। शत्रुर्निमज्जता ग्राह्मो जड्घायां प्रपतिष्यता । विपरिच्छिन्नममूलो5पि न विषीदेत् कथंचन
śatrur nimajjata grāhyo jaḍghāyāṃ prapatiṣyatā | viparicchinnam amūlo 'pi na viṣīdet kathaṃcana ||
Dijo Vāyu: «¡Cobarde! Tus obras de mérito (iṣṭa y pūrta) han perecido, toda tu fama se ha vuelto polvo, y el reino —raíz de tus deleites— te ha sido arrebatado. ¿Para qué vives ahora? Al enemigo que se hunde hay que asirlo; al que resbala y está por caer, hay que herirlo en el muslo. Aunque uno quede cercenado de apoyo y parezca sin raíces, no debe abatirse de ningún modo.»
