अध्याय १२२ — कृष्णस्य दुर्योधनं प्रति नीत्युपदेशः

Kṛṣṇa’s Ethical Counsel to Duryodhana

पुनस्त्वयैव राजर्षे सुकृतेन विधातितम्‌ । आवूृतं तमसा चेत: सर्वेषां स्वर्गवासिनाम्‌,*राजर्षे! फिर तुम्हींने 'अभिमानपूर्ण बर्तावसे” अपने पुण्यका नाश किया था। उस समय समस्त स्वर्गवासियोंका चित्त तमोगुणसे व्याप्त हो गया था, जिससे वे तुम्हें नहीं जानते या नहीं पहचानते थे; अतः सबके लिये अज्ञात होनेके कारण तुम स्वर्गसे नीचे गिरा दिये गये। फिर तुम्हारे दौह्ित्रोंने प्रेमपूर्वक तुम्हें तार दिया है, जिससे तुम पुनः यहाँ आ गये हो

punas tvayaiva rājarṣe sukṛtena vidhātitam | āvṛtaṃ tamasā cetaḥ sarveṣāṃ svargavāsinām ||

Oh rishi real, una vez más esto se produjo por tu propio mérito: las mentes de todos los moradores del cielo quedaron veladas por la oscuridad, de modo que no te reconocieron. Al ser desconocido para todos, fuiste hecho caer del cielo. Más tarde, los hijos de tu hija, movidos por el afecto, te rescataron y te restituyeron; y así has regresado aquí una vez más.

Even accumulated merit can be nullified or redirected by egoistic conduct: pride invites tamas (delusion) that obscures discernment in oneself and others, leading to loss of status and spiritual decline; humility and loving support can help restore one’s path.

Nārada explains to a royal sage that, due to the sage’s own action, the minds of the heavenly beings were clouded by tamas and they failed to recognize him; as a result he fell from heaven. Subsequently, his daughter’s sons, acting with affection, helped him regain his position and return.
