वव्रे धनं महर्षि: स जैमूतं तद् धनं ततः । उस सम्पूर्ण विशाल धनराशिको उन्होंने ब्राह्मणोंमें बाँ.कठर उसका सदुपयोग किया और ब्राह्मणोंसे यह वर माँगा कि यह धन मेरे नामसे प्रसिद्ध हो। इस कारण वह धन 'जैमूत' नामसे प्रसिद्ध हुआ
yuparṇa uvāca | vavre dhanaṁ maharṣiḥ sa jaimūtaṁ tad dhanaṁ tataḥ |
Yuparṇa dijo: «Aquel gran sabio pidió riquezas; y desde entonces esas riquezas llegaron a ser conocidas como ‘Jaimūta’.» En la tradición narrativa, el sentido es que el sabio recibió una suma inmensa, la distribuyó por completo entre los brāhmaṇas con disciplina y propósito, y luego les pidió una gracia: que esa riqueza fuese célebre por su propio nombre. Por ello se celebró como ‘Jaimūta’.
