Udyoga Parva Adhyāya 103: Garuḍa’s Protest, Viṣṇu’s Demonstration, and Counsel Toward Śama
लब्ध्वा वरं तु सुमुख: सुमुख: सम्बभूव ह । कृतदारो यथाकामं॑ जगाम च गृहान् प्रति,इन्द्रका वर पाकर सुमुखका मुख प्रसन्नतासे खिल उठा। वह विवाह करके इच्छानुसार अपने घरको चला गया
labdhvā varaṃ tu sumukhaḥ sumukhaḥ sambabhūva ha | kṛtadāro yathākāmaṃ jagāma ca gṛhān prati ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana dijo: Habiendo obtenido el don, Sumukha se volvió verdaderamente radiante y complacido. Tomó esposa y, conforme a su deseo, regresó a su hogar.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the dharmic completion of a life-stage: after receiving a boon, Sumukha enters household life through marriage and returns home content, suggesting that desires are best fulfilled within socially sanctioned and responsible frameworks.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Sumukha receives a boon, becomes joyful, marries, and then goes back to his home, indicating the successful resolution of his immediate aim.
