सत्कृतं स्वजनेनेह परो5पि बहु मन्यते । स्वजनेन त्ववज्ञातं परे परिभवन्त्युत,इस लोकमें आत्मीयजन जिसका आदर करते हैं, उसे दूसरे लोग भी बहुत मानते हैं और जो स्वजनोंद्वारा तिरस्कृत होता है, उसका दूसरे भी अनादर करते हैं
satkṛtaṃ svajaneneha paro 'pi bahu manyate | svajanena tv avajñātaṃ pare paribhavanty uta ||
Dijo Bhishma: En este mundo, cuando una persona es honrada por los suyos, incluso los de fuera llegan a estimarla mucho. Pero cuando alguien es desdeñado por su propia parentela, los demás también lo tratan con desprecio.
