Kurukṣetra-anudarśanam — Rāma-hradāḥ and the Question of Kṣatra Continuity (शान्ति पर्व, अध्याय ४८)

चितासहस्प्रचितं वर्मशस्त्रसमाकुलम्‌ । आपानभूमिं कालस्य तथा भुक्तोज्झितामिव

citāsahasrapracitaṁ varmaśastrasamākulam | āpānabhūmiṁ kālasya tathā bhuktojjhitām iva ||

Vaiśampāyana dijo: El suelo estaba amontonado con miles de piras funerarias, y yacía atestado de armaduras y armas. A la vista parecía el mismo comedor del Tiempo (la Muerte): como si Kāla hubiera festinado allí y luego hubiera dejado el lugar sembrado de sus lúgubres despojos. La imagen presenta el aftermath del campo de batalla como una advertencia moral: la violencia culmina en un paisaje donde el orgullo y el poder humanos quedan reducidos a desperdicio ante la inevitabilidad de Kāla.
