Yudhiṣṭhira’s Post-Accession Settlements and Approach to Vāsudeva (युधिष्ठिरस्य राज्यस्थापनं वासुदेवाभिगमनं च)
तथा<नुजीविनो भृत्यान् संश्रितानतिथीनपि । कामै: संतर्पयामास कृपणांस्तर्ककानपि
tathānujīvino bhṛtyān saṁśritān atithīn api | kāmaiḥ santarpayāmāsa kṛpaṇāṁs tarkakān api ||
Asimismo, colmó con los goces deseados a los dependientes y servidores que vivían de su amparo, así como a quienes buscaron su protección y a los huéspedes que llegaban. También socorrió y satisfizo a los pobres y afligidos, e incluso a los razonadores y respondedores de preguntas (como intérpretes-astrólogos) a quienes se consultaba.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights rājadharma expressed through generosity: a householder/king should sustain dependents, honor guests, protect those who seek refuge, and relieve the poor—ensuring social stability and moral order through timely, appropriate giving.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that the central figure (the patron/king being described) distributes enjoyable provisions and support to various groups—servants and dependents, refugees, guests, the destitute, and professional advisers—thereby fulfilling obligations of hospitality, protection, and charity.
