Sacred knowledge is preserved and rightly organized through disciplined austerity (tapas) joined with devotion and correct guidance; effort becomes fruitful when aligned with a divinely indicated method.
Vaiśaṃpāyana recounts that Galava, a sage associated with Pañcāla, propitiated Hayagrīva through intense austerities and, by following the deity’s instructed path, attained the proper ordered arrangement (krama) of the Vedas.
