Nāgendra–Brāhmaṇa Saṃvāda: Praśna-vidhi and Dharmic Approach on the Gomatī Riverbank
The verse asserts that the Veda is foundational for sustaining and rightly ordering the world (loka-sṛṣṭi). It frames the Veda not merely as text but as the normative source of dharma and cosmic intelligibility; its loss is therefore an ethical and civilizational catastrophe.
Vaiśaṁpāyana, as narrator, expresses grief and alarm at the prospect or reality of Vedic knowledge being diminished or destroyed, emphasizing that without the Veda the proper creation/ordering of the worlds and the guidance of society would be impossible.
