Educational Q&A

The verse affirms that participation in yajña (sacrificial duty) is a formative discipline: it ‘cultivates’ people by training them in obligation, generosity, and reverence for dharma, rather than mere self-interest.

Vaiśampāyana, continuing his narration in the Śānti discourse, characterizes the addressed group as having been shaped by sacrificial practice—highlighting their background in Vedic rites as a moral and cultural foundation for the teaching being conveyed.
