धर्मस्य बहुद्वारत्वम् — Nārada’s Audience with Indra (Śānti-parva 340)
नित्यं हि नास्ति जगति भूतं स्थावरजड्भमम् | ऋते तमेक॑ पुरुषं वासुदेव॑ सनातनम्,'संसारमें उस एकमात्र सनातन पुरुष वासुदेवको छोड़कर कोई भी चराचर भूत नित्य नहीं है
nityaṃ hi nāsti jagati bhūtaṃ sthāvara-jaḍaṅgamam | ṛte tam ekaṃ puruṣaṃ vāsudevaṃ sanātanam ||
Dijo Bhīṣma: En este mundo, nada entre los seres—sean inmóviles o móviles—es verdaderamente eterno. Sólo esa única Persona imperecedera, Vāsudeva, permanece aparte del flujo perecedero del saṃsāra. Esta enseñanza conduce la mente desde el apego a las formas transitorias hacia la devoción a la realidad divina imperecedera.
भीष्म उवाच
All created entities—whether immobile or mobile—are non-eternal; only the one eternal Supreme Person, Vāsudeva, is truly everlasting. Ethically, this supports detachment from transient possessions and status, and encourages devotion and orientation toward the imperishable.
In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and higher spiritual truths. Here he emphasizes the perishability of worldly beings and singles out Vāsudeva as the sole eternal reality, steering the discussion toward liberation-oriented understanding.
