एतद्ि युष्मच्छस्त्राणां शास्त्रमुत्तमसंज्ञितम्‌ । एतदर्थ्य च धर्म्य च रहस्यं चैतदुत्तमम्‌,“तुम्हारा बनाया हुआ यह शास्त्र सब शाम्त्रोंसे श्रेष्ठ माना जायगा। यह धर्मशास्त्र, अर्थशास्त्र एवं उत्तम रहस्यमय ग्रन्थ है

etad hi yuṣmacchastrāṇāṃ śāstram uttamasaṃjñitam | etad arthyaṃ ca dharmyaṃ ca rahasyaṃ caitad uttamam ||

Dijo Bhīṣma: «Este tratado, compuesto por vosotros, será tenido por el más eminente entre vuestras enseñanzas autorizadas. Es a la vez una obra que procura el bienestar práctico (artha), sostiene la rectitud (dharma) y transmite el secreto interior más alto: un excelente compendio del buen vivir y del gobierno sabio.»
