The passage classifies a specific type of wind by its observable effects—speed, thunder-bearing clouds, and ominous disturbances—illustrating the epic’s didactic habit of reading nature as meaningful and ethically significant through the lens of omens (utpāta).
In Bhīṣma’s instructional discourse, he enumerates and names winds; here he identifies the fifth as “Vivaha,” describing it as a violent, sky-ranging gale associated with thunder-cloud formations and fearsome portents.
