सोअभिध्यानाद्‌ ब्राह्मणस्य पराभूयादसंशयम्‌ । स्वयम्भू ब्रह्माने यहाँ देवताओंकी स्तुतिके लिये वेदोंकी सृष्टि की है। जो मोहवश वेदके पारंगत ब्राह्मणकी निन्दा करता है, वह उसके अनिष्ट-चिन्तनके कारण निस्संदेह पराभवको प्राप्त होता है

bhīṣma uvāca | so’bhidhyānād brāhmaṇasya parābhūyād asaṁśayam | svayambhū brahmāṇa iha devatā-stuti-kṛte vedānāṁ sṛṣṭiṁ kṛtavān | yo mohavaśād veda-pāraṅgataṁ brāhmaṇaṁ nindati sa tasya aniṣṭa-cintanena niḥsaṁdehaṁ parābhavaṁ prāpnoti |

Dijo Bhīṣma: Quien alberga pensamientos hostiles contra un brahmán, sin duda alguna, es llevado a la ruina por esa misma malicia. Pues aquí el Autoengendrado Brahmā creó los Vedas para la alabanza de los dioses. Por ello, quien, cegado por la ignorancia, censura a un brahmán versado en el Veda, cae con certeza en derrota y desventura, porque su mente se ha inclinado al daño ajeno.
