देवतापितृप्रश्नः — Nārada at Badarīāśrama: the ultimate referent of daiva and pitṛ worship

धनेन कि यन्न ददाति नाश्रुते बलेन कि येन रिपुं न बाधते । श्रुतेन कि येन न धर्ममाचरेत्‌ किमात्मना यो न जितेन्द्रियो वशी

dhanena kiṁ yan na dadāti nāśrute balena kiṁ yena ripuṁ na bādhate | śrutena kiṁ yena na dharmam ācaret kim ātmanā yo na jitendriyo vaśī ||

Dijo Vyāsa: ¿De qué sirve la riqueza si no se da? ¿De qué sirve el saber si no se escucha y se atiende? ¿De qué sirve la fuerza si no se contiene y somete al enemigo? ¿De qué sirve el conocimiento de las escrituras si no se practica el dharma? ¿Y de qué sirve el yo en quien no ha conquistado los sentidos ni alcanzado el dominio de sí?
