Śuka’s Guṇa-Transcendence and Vyāsa’s Consolation (शुकगति-वर्णनम्)

स्वप्नकामो न लभते स्वप्तुं कार्यार्थिभिर्जन: । शयने चाप्यनुज्ञात: सुप्त उत्थाप्यतेडवश:,वह सोना चाहता है, परंतु कार्यार्थी मनुष्योंद्वारा घिरा रहनेके कारण सोने नहीं पाता। शय्यापर सोये हुए राजाको भी लोगोंके अनुरोधसे विवश होकर उठना पड़ता है

svapna-kāmo na labhate svaptuṁ kāryārthibhir janaḥ | śayane cāpy anu-jñātaḥ supta utthāpyate ’vaśaḥ ||

Bhishma dijo: «Quien anhela dormir no lo consigue, pues está rodeado de quienes apremian sus asuntos. Incluso cuando se le permite recostarse, es despertado de nuevo, impotente, a petición de los demás.»
