Educational Q&A

Even the most powerful king—able to conquer the earth and perform grand sacrifices—remains subject to mortality; ritual glory and worldly dominion do not secure lasting life, highlighting impermanence and the limits of power.

Vāyu recounts Yayāti’s imperial and ritual achievements: after conquering the earth, he measures it out by the śamyāpāta procedure, establishes many sacrificial altars, performs major Vedic sacrifices, and traverses the land in a grand ritual circuit.
