पूर्वोपायोपपन्नेन मार्गण वरवर्णिनि | न मे सुरा: प्रयच्छन्ति भागं यज्ञस्य धर्मत:,सुन्दरि! पूर्वनिश्चित नियमके अनुसार धर्मकी दृष्टिसे ही देवतालोग यज्ञमें मुझे भाग नहीं अर्पित करते हैं

pūrvopāyopapannena mārgaṇa varavarṇini | na me surāḥ prayacchanti bhāgaṃ yajñasya dharmataḥ, sundari ||

Maheśvara dijo: «Oh dama de hermosa tez, aunque se me haya buscado conforme a los medios correctos establecidos desde antiguo, los dioses, aferrados a lo que consideran la regla del dharma, no me ofrecen mi parte legítima en el sacrificio».
