Inquiry into Śreyas, Dharma, and Karma
The verse signals that the forthcoming counsel is not mere rhetoric but ‘arthavat’—ethically and spiritually substantial—rooted in the glorification of Vishnu. It frames right understanding and guidance as grounded in devotion and recognition of divine greatness.
Bhishma narrates that Sanatkumara, after hearing what preceded, addresses the Danava king Vṛtrāsura. Sanatkumara’s speech is characterized as meaningful and explicitly connected to Vishnu’s glory, preparing the listener for a devotional-ethical instruction.
