उत्थानेन जयेत् तन्द्रीं वितर्क निश्चयाज्जयेत् । मौनेन बहुभाष्यं च शौर्येण च भयं त्यजेत्
utthānena jayettandrīṁ vitarka-niścayāj jayeta | maunena bahubhāṣyaṁ ca śauryeṇa ca bhayaṁ tyajet ||
Bhishma dijo: Al levantarse y esforzarse, debe conquistarse la pereza; con discernimiento firme y convicción asentada, deben superarse el razonamiento contrario y la duda. Observando el silencio, debe refrenarse la costumbre de hablar en exceso; y con valentía, debe desecharse el miedo.
भीष्म उवाच
Cultivate inner mastery through practical disciplines: counter sloth with energetic effort, counter doubt and perverse argument with firm discernment and conviction, curb verbosity through silence, and remove fear through courage.
