Shloka 37

सा वै तदा मृत्युसंज्ञापदेशा भीता शापाद्‌ बाढमित्यब्रवीत्‌ तम्‌ । अथो प्राणान्‌ प्राणिनामन्तकाले कामक्रोधौ प्राप्य निर्मोह्म हन्ति,तब वह मृत्यु नामवाली नारी शापसे डरकर ब्रह्माजीसे बोली--“बहुत अच्छा, आपकी आज्ञा स्वीकार है।” वही मृत्यु प्राणियोंका अन्तकाल आनेपर काम और क्रोधको प्रेरित करके उनके द्वारा उन्हें मोहमें डालकर मार डालती है

sā vai tadā mṛtyu-saṃjñā-padeśā bhītā śāpād bāḍham ity abravīt tam | atho prāṇān prāṇinām anta-kāle kāma-krodhau prāpya nirmoham hanti ||

Entonces ella—designada y nombrada «Muerte»—atemorizada por la maldición, le dijo: «Así sea; acepto tu mandato». Desde entonces, cuando llega la hora final de los seres, la Muerte se acerca agitando el deseo y la ira, y por medio de ambos abate a las criaturas, las arroja en la ilusión y las mata.
