धैर्यशशाली, मनीषी और तत्त्वज्ञानी लोग जिस नदीको पार करते हैं, उसे तुम भी तैर जाओ। सब प्रकारके बन्धनोंसे मुक्त, संयतचित्त, आत्मज्ञ और पवित्र हो जाओ। उत्तम बुद्धि (ज्ञान) का आश्रय ले तुम सब प्रकारके सांसारिक बन्धनोंसे छूट जाओगे और निष्पाप एवं प्रसन्नचित्त हो ब्रह्मभावको प्राप्त हो जाओगे ।। भूमिष्ठानीव भूतानि पर्वतस्थो निशामय । अक्रुध्यन्नप्रहृष्यंश्न न नृशंसमतिस्तथा,जैसे पर्वतके शिखरपर खड़ा हुआ पुरुष धरतीपर रहनेवाले समस्त प्राणियोंको सुस्पष्ट देखता है, उसी प्रकार तुम भी ज्ञानरूपी शैलशिखरपर आरूढ़ हो समस्त प्राणियोंकी अवस्थापर दृष्टिपात करो। क्रोध और हर्षसे रहित हो जाओ तथा बुद्धिकी क्रूरतासे भी रहित हो जाओ
dhairyaśālī manīṣī ca tattvajñānī janāḥ nadīṃ yāṃ taranti tāṃ tvam api plavajāhi | sarvabandhavinirmuktaḥ saṃyatacitta ātmavit pavitro bhava | uttamabuddhim (jñānam) āśritya sarvasaṃsārabandhanebhyaḥ pramokṣyase niṣpāpaḥ prasannacitto brahmabhāvaṃ prāpsyasi || bhūmiṣṭhānīva bhūtāni parvatastho niśāmaya | akrudhyann aprahṛṣyaṃś ca na nṛśaṃsamatistathā ||
Vyāsa dijo: «El río que cruzan los firmes, los perspicaces y los conocedores de la verdad—cruza tú ese mismo río. Libérate de toda clase de ataduras: domina la mente, conoce el Sí mismo y purifícate. Acogiéndote a la inteligencia suprema—al conocimiento verdadero—serás soltado de todos los lazos mundanos; sin pecado y sereno de corazón, alcanzarás el estado de Brahman. Y así como un hombre, de pie en la cima de una montaña, ve con claridad a todas las criaturas que habitan en la tierra abajo, así también tú, tras ascender a la cumbre rocosa del conocimiento, contempla las condiciones de todos los seres. Sé sin ira y sin exaltación, y que tu entendimiento esté libre de crueldad.»

Vyāsa instructs the listener through two linked metaphors: crossing a river (the passage beyond worldly bondage) and standing on a mountain peak (the vantage of knowledge). From this higher standpoint, one observes all beings impartially, without reactive emotions, and with a non-harmful disposition.
