बलवान् कर्णनिर्वाक: शून्यपाल: कृतश्रम: । एनं धर्म कृतवन्तस्तत:ः स्वर्गमुपागमन्
balavān karṇanirvākaḥ śūnyapālaḥ kṛtaśramaḥ | enaṃ dharmaṃ kṛtavantas tataḥ svargam upāgaman, tāta |
Vyāsa dijo: «Hijo querido, el poderoso Karṇa-nirvāka, Śūnya-pāla y Kṛta-śrama—tras asumir y practicar esta disciplina del dharma—alcanzaron después el cielo.» En su contexto, el pasaje presenta a sabios y maestros ejemplares como testigos de la validez del modo de vida vānaprastha (el morador del bosque): al adoptar contención, austeridad y deber en esa etapa, sostienen el dharma y obtienen un destino póstumo auspicioso.
