Ātma-saṃyama-dharma: One-pointedness of Mind and Senses (शुक–व्यास संवादः)

शुक उवाच यदिदं वेदवचनं लोकवादे विरुध्यते । प्रमाणे वाप्रमाणे च विरुद्धे शास्त्रता कुत:

śuka uvāca yad idaṃ vedavacanaṃ lokavāde virudhyate | pramāṇe vāpramāṇe ca viruddhe śāstratā kutaḥ ||

Śuka dijo: “Padre, esta enseñanza védica, cuando se la sopesa con el razonamiento común del mundo, parece contradecirse. Habla de dos modos: ‘realiza la acción’ y ‘abandona la acción’. ¿Son estas afirmaciones autorizadas o no? Y si lo son, ¿cómo pueden aceptarse como śāstra cuando se oponen entre sí? ¿Cómo pueden ser válidas ambas a la vez? Deseo oírlo con claridad—y también cómo puede alcanzarse la liberación sin caer en conflicto respecto de la acción.”
