Educational Q&A

Bhishma signals that the forthcoming instruction will be supported by an authoritative ancient example (itihasa), emphasizing that dharma and ethical reasoning are best clarified through precedent and the tested wisdom of sages.

Bhishma, addressing Yudhishthira as 'Bharata', introduces an old illustrative story: a dialogue between the sages Jaigishavya and Asita (Devala), which will be used to illuminate the topic under discussion.
