कालनिर्णयः, युगधर्मवर्णनम्, सृष्टिक्रमश्च
Time-Reckoning, Yuga-Dharma, and the Sequence of Creation
इन्द्र बोले--दैत्ययाज बलि! पहले जो तुम सहस्रों वाहनों और भाई-बन्धुओंसे घिरकर सम्पूर्ण लोकोंको संताप देते और हम देवताओंको कुछ न समझते हुए यात्रा करते थे और अब बन्धु-बान्धवों तथा मित्रोंसे परित्यक्त होकर जो अपनी यह अत्यन्त दीनदशा देख रहे हो, इससे तुम्हारे मनमें शोक होता है या नहीं? ।।
śakra uvāca— prītiṁ prāptātulāṁ pūrvaṁ lokāṁś cātmavaśe sthitān | vinipātam imaṁ bāle śocasy aho na śocasi ||
Śakra (Indra) dijo: «Oh Bali, de ánimo infantil, antaño alcanzaste un deleite incomparable y tuviste a todos los mundos bajo tu dominio. Pero ahora has caído en esta ruina, abandonado por parientes y amigos. Al ver tal vuelco, ¿te afliges—o no te afliges en absoluto?»
