पितामहमुपागम्य प्रणिपत्य कृताउज्जलि: । सवनिवासुरान् जित्वा बलिं पप्रच्छ वासव:
pitāmaham upāgamya praṇipatya kṛtāñjaliḥ | sa-vanivāsurān jitvā baliṁ papraccha vāsavaḥ ||
Bhīṣma dijo: «En cierta ocasión, tras vencer a los Asuras junto con sus aliados y dependientes, Indra (Vāsava) se acercó al Abuelo Brahmā. Inclinándose con las manos juntas en señal de reverencia, preguntó: “Señor bendito, ¿dónde mora Bali?”»
