तस्य मार्गोडयमद्दैध: सर्वत्यागस्य दर्शित: । विप्रहाणाय दुःखस्य दुर्गतिस्त्वन्यथा भवेत्,सर्वस्व-त्यागका यह एकमात्र मार्ग ही दुःखोंसे छुटकारा पानेके लिये उत्तम बताया गया है, इसके विपरीत आचरण करनेवालोंको दुर्गति भोगनी पड़ती है
tasya mārgo 'yam adaidhaḥ sarvatyāgasya darśitaḥ | viprahāṇāya duḥkhasya durgatis tv anyathā bhavet ||
Éste es el sendero inquebrantable que ha sido mostrado para la renuncia total. Se declara que es el mejor medio para despojarse del dolor; pero para quien obra de otro modo, se dice que le sigue un destino miserable.
भीष्म उवाच
Bhishma teaches that firm, total renunciation (especially of attachment and possessiveness) is the sure path for abandoning suffering; acting contrary to this discipline leads to downfall (durgati).
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction on dharma and liberation, Bhishma continues advising Yudhishthira, emphasizing renunciation as a decisive spiritual method and warning of negative consequences for those who reject it.
