Description of the Path of Meditation

The Self is present in all beings yet remains hidden in the heart; it is realized not by external means but through sustained meditation, refined discernment, moderation in food, and inner purification—culminating in direct inward realization of the Self.
Bharadvāja is instructing about the method and conditions for realizing the Ātman: the seeker practices yoga especially in the quiet hours of night, lives with restraint, purifies the mind, and thereby gains direct vision of the inner Self.
