Adhyāya 180: Jīva, Śarīra, and the Fire Analogy (भृगु–भरद्वाज संवादः)
अनियतफलभक्ष्यभोज्यपेयं विधिपरिणामविभक्तदेशकालम् | हृदयसुखमसेवितं कदर्य- ब्रीतमिदमाजगरं शुचिश्नचरामि
bhīṣma uvāca | aniyata-phalabhakṣya-bhojya-peyaṁ vidhi-pariṇāma-vibhakta-deśa-kālam | hṛdaya-sukham asevitaṁ kadarya-vrītam idaṁ ājagaraṁ śuciśn carāmi |
Bhishma dijo: «Este voto “como el de la pitón” complace a mi corazón. En él no hay disposición fija para frutos, comida, manjares o bebida; lo que llegue sin ser llamado, eso solo sostiene. Según la maduración del destino, se reparten lugar y tiempo. Los hombres viles, codiciosos de los objetos de los sentidos, no lo emprenden; yo practico este voto en pureza.»
