Dasyu-maryādā and Buddhi-guided Rāja-nīti (दस्युमर्यादा तथा बुद्धिप्रधान-राजनीति)
नविश्वसेदविश्वस्ते विश्वस्ते नातिविश्वसेत् विश्वासाद् भयमुत्पन्नमपि मूलं निकृन्तति । काम॑ विश्वासयेदन्यान् परेषां च न विश्वसेत्,जो विश्वासपात्र न हो, उसपर विश्वास न करे। जो विश्वासका पात्र हो, उसपर भी अधिक विश्वास न करे; क्योंकि विश्वाससे उत्पन्न होनेवाला भय विश्वास करनेवालेका मूलोच्छेद कर डालता है। अपने प्रति दूसरोंका विश्वास भले ही उत्पन्न कर ले; किंतु स्वयं दूसरोंका विश्वास न करे

Dijo Brahmadatta: «No confíes en quien no es digno de confianza; y aun en quien lo es, no confíes en exceso. Pues el temor que nace de una confianza mal puesta puede abatir a un hombre hasta la raíz. Uno puede, si quiere, inspirar confianza en los demás hacia sí; pero no debe rendir su propio juicio confiando ciegamente en otros».
